Meters: *Actionable* CPU and Memory Stats

We submitted Meters tonight, and I thought I would take the opportunity to talk about the goal of Meters.

First, I love programs that monitor your computer’s resources and load, and I’ve used or played with many of the popular ones: Samurize, Rainmeter, gkrellm, and even the built-ins Task Manager/Resource Manager and the Vista gadget.

Meters puts those stats right on your iPhone and is both an homage and logical extension to these programs:

  1. Meters on your iPhone means more screen space for your applications, and less spent on your monitoring tools.
  2. It also means mobile stats anywhere – check your server or desktop stats while you are out and about.
  3. Finally, Meters is all about *actionable* stats – Too many desktop monitors show you the usage, but don’t have a fast way of showing WHAT is using the CPU or hogging your RAM. Meters always shows you exactly what processes are the most intensive at any point in time.

And that is Meters in a nutshell.
